Bulgaria’s Plovdiv takes sixth place in world’s oldest cities chart

According to a Daily Telegraph report, Bulgaria’s Plovdiv ranks sixth among the oldest cities in the world.
According to the report, Plovdiv is major cultural center popular with its numerous ancient remains, including a Roman ancient theater, aqueduct and Turkish baths.

The city of Sidon in Lebanon and Faiyum in Egypt also occupy sixth position.

Jericho in the Palestinian Territories ranks first. The city was built in 9000 BC. According to Daily Telegraph, Jericho is the world’s oldest continually inhabited city in the world.

The city of Byblos in Lebanon ranks second. Byblos Castle, St John church and Phoenician temples are among the most interesting landmarks.

Syria’s Aleppo ranks third. This is the most populated city in the country with around 4.4 million citizens.
The city of Varanasi in India occupies the 20th position in the chart.
