Black Sea hosts water sport events

Sea sports are flourishing on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast boosted by the increase in tourism. The Bulgarian Sailing Federation (BSF) has scheduled over 45 events this year, the majority of which are planned for the main summer season of July and August.

Some of the leading events include the Vuzrazhdane Regatta at Pomorie in the south taking place from June 19 to June 22. From June 20 the Nessebar Spring keelboats regatta takes place over two days. Keelboats will also race at the Varna Regatta on July 3. The regatta will take place over a three-day period.

Other key events are the UniCredit Bulbank Regatta, which is planned for July 10 to 13. Sailing will be between Varna and Bourgas. The Victory Regatta, probably the most prestigious event in the Bulgarian sailing calendar is scheduled to take place in St Vlas and Nessebar from July 18 to 20.

During August, Bourgas host a keelboat regatta between August 6 and 10 and a kite-surfing contest on August 15 to 17. Varna will host the race-board Regatta Galatea on August 8 and Tsarevo will host the keelboat Vasiliko Regatta on September 12.

It’s not just water sports that are getting attention this summer season. The M-tel Beach Masters volleyball tournament started in May and there are a further five games left to play and on June 20 Albena will host one round of the Horse Riding World Cup.
