The Luxury Car Market in Bulgaria

The luxury car market in Bulgaria is still very much in its infancy, however it is growing and more and more new cars can be seen cruising down Bulgaria’s highways. In 2007, 30,000 new cars were registered in Bulgaria an increase of 20% compared to the previous year. Toyota is the most popular make of car with over 4,000 cars sold. They are closely followed by Volkswagen and Ford. Toyota has also topped the list of the most popular make for second-hand cars. New cars are generally cheaper here than in Western Europe, yet second hand cars hold their value far better than at home.

The Hummer H3

The Hummer H3 is the most luxurious of the Hummer collection. It is designed to overcome the most difficult off-road obstacles, with its fully welded steel frame, marked front skid plate, 219 mm of ground clearance, and full undercarriage protection. The H3 is also capable of ploughing through 407 mm of water at 32 km/h and 610 mm of water at 8 km/h; the Hummer is equally competent on the public highway. This model is fitted with remote keyless entry and a panic button to provide the driver with a greater sense of security. Additionally, the H3 is fitted with a satellite navigation system, CD/MP3 player with a six disc changer and optional blacked out windows. The Hummer has a “tough guy” image and is often associated with the Bulgarian Mafia. There is only one Hummer dealer in Bulgaria located in Sofia. The Hummer H3 costs EUR 56,239 in Bulgaria; the same model in the UK would cost EUR 43,761.

Mercedes Benz S600

The Mercedes S600 is the latest luxury model to roll off the Mercedes production line. This car oozes speed with the ability to reach 100km/h in just 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h. Some of the features of this model are a keyless start - the engine opens up with a click of a button, top of the range APS brakes, a built in satellite navigation system and ‘parkatronic’ a system to make your parking easier. There is also a DVD player fitted with a six disc changer installed under the front passenger seat. You can also link the car to an automatic opening of your garage door. This vehicle can be purchase for the price around EUR 55,000 compared to EUR 133,812 back in the UK.

Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet

The Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet is one of the fastest cars in the world with the ability to reach 100km/h in just 4 seconds. The 911reaxhes top speeds of 193km/h. The car’s standard features are fabulous and include a satellite navigation system, a DVD/ CD player built into the dashboard and front and rear and surround sound. This model is available in hard or soft top. Soft top models are powered controlled and for added convenience the hood can be activated while the vehicle is travelling at 50km/h or less. This vehicle can be purchased at EUR 139,355; the same model in the UK would cost EUR 147,127.

Mercedes Benz V8

The Mercedes ML 500 is one of the most luxurious off roaders that can be found on the Bulgarian highways probably because it copes well with the country’s bumpy terrain. Seen from the outside, the ML 500 is well-built and strong, however it has fine lines that gives it a sporty profile. It can reach top speeds of 250km/h and has fantastic off road abilities; it accelerates with power, but is impressively comfortable. The ML 500 is fitted with the option of a lever behind the steering which, which can change the car from manual drive to automatic. It also has cruise control, a CD/MP3 player with a 6 disc changer, a satellite navigation system and a rear seat entertainment system ideal for DVD'S. The Mercedes ML 500 is priced at EUR 59,347; the same model can be purchased for EUR 70,231 Euros back in the UK.

BMW M6 Coupe

The M6 Coupe is the most luxurious model in the BMW collection with the ability to reach 100km/h in just 4.2 seconds and top speeds of 250km/h. The vechile is fitted with seven gears and an option of automatic driving. The facilites in the M6 are fabulous including a navigation system, CD/MP3 fitted with a six disc changer with the option of voice activation. The M6 is fitted with 'parkatonic' to make parking easier. The M6 can be purchased for EUR 72,500 with the same model in the UK costing EUR 112,431.
